Initially, Chaar Yaar traversed the path of Sufi texts dating back to the 12-13 century.
The group then started looking at the cultural bridges across continents.
October 2006 – Conceived and designed the inaugural show of the World Book Fair, Frankfurt.
The project has since continued to grow and the group has travelled all over the world many times, performing with many internationally celebrated groups such as All Star Bang on a Can of New York; the neo-Jazz vocalist Theo Bleckmann; David Hykes’ Harmonic Choir and countless more.
Listed below are some of the major events in which the group has participated: September 2004 – Invited to make a Lec-Dem presentation at the Intangible Heritage Symposium held in Barcelona as part of the Barcelona Dialog, Forum 2004[Madan Gopal Singh alone] October 2004 - Performed at "Another Passage to India" festival held in Geneva and Zurich.
November 2006 – Madan Gopal Singh presented a package of films at Rio de Janeiro and Auro Preto in an International Festival, Imagem dos Povos, Brazil.
December 2006 – Performed at the Other Festival, Chennai. January 2007 – Performed in the Festival of India, Brussels.
June 2005 – Invited to be part of a prestigious Musician Residency Program called the SOUND RES at San Ceasario, Lecce, Italy.
